Take It With You

There are long ropes and short ropes. Ones you climb. Ones you pull. Ones you tie. Ones you cut.

They don't expand.
They don't support.

And you can't come back for it.

In 2009 “Songs and the Local Birds” was born after a year of song writing. One of the 11 tracks was “The Mourning Doves” in its demo form. After the demo recording the song shifted and grew and a friend added her words and voice to it. At the request of many and after 3 years the final version is done…

{When folks used to say “Mourning Dove” in the past I thought that it was an indication of the dawn; of morning. Quite simply, I didn’t know “Morning” had a U in it. This was when I heard the doves mostly in my morning walks so this assumption makes sense. But around the time I found out it was in fact an indication of the bird’s song (the beautiful and sorrow filled  ”coo coooo ooo ooo”) my walks began to be filled with my own mo(u)rnings that year. In their own way the birds short song conveyed 10,000 words I couldn’t say… }

I thank Johannah Swank for co-writing the song and recording this final version with me recently. It will be released in the near future, but for now enjoy it here. kelly.

My dear friend Kelly Latimore released a new song today. (Johanna Swank on bgv’s) must listen!
